I hope this e-mail finds you safe and well!
Hopefully you didn't eat too many sweets and candies on Halloween, but just in case you did, I have a couple of suggestions for you:
No need to feel guilty, what's done is done! If you ate the sweet, I hope you enjoyed it whole heartedly. Seriously!
Focus on eating healthier on the subsequent days; be intentional about eating more green leaf veggies. (For example, I started my day with a celery juice). The more fiber you consume, the more you can get things moving. We want to help our digestion.
Move your body! Excess sugar can dampen our mood and we know exercise can not only help us burn extra calories, but also allows our body to release 'feel-happy' hormones called endorphins!
Last but not least, a drop or two from DigestZen applied topically on your abdomen or added to a warm cup of water as a tea, can help with an upset tummy/indigestion.
Food for Thought:
Not all sweets are made equal, some include harmful chemicals called endocrine disrupters. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has a Food Score site/app that can help you make more informed decisions when purchasing processed foods. Yuka is another helpful app.
The State of California recently passed a law to ban the following ingredients: Brominated vegetable oil, Potassium bromate, Propylparaben and Red dye No. 3. The misleadingly named "Skittles Ban" doesn't actually ban the candy itself as the ban does not apply to the ingredient Titanium Dioxide.
Generally, the European Food Safety Authority has stricter regulations than the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Here is a list of ingredients/products banned in Europe that are not banned in the US.
